Traditionally, port implantation has been part of the medical role, but increasingly this is being undertaken by specialist vascular nurses. The first of these two webinars demystifies what, for many nurses, is considered a daunting procedure, and demonstrates how, with training and practice, it can become a valuable nursing competency. Small and discreet, implanted ports are used for long-term intravenous therapy. The second webinar focuses on the care and maintenance of non-coring needles used with the ports, describing the essentials of good management.
